Common questions

I got signed out automatically. Why?

For security, DriverOnFile automatically signs you out after 20 minutes with no activity — no clicks, typing, or scrolling. Just sign back in with your User ID and password to pick up where you left off. Your progress on completed modules is always saved.

It says I've reached today's training limit. What does that mean?

Training time is capped at 4 hours per calendar day. If you hit that limit, you won't be able to start or continue any module until the next day. This resets automatically at midnight — no action needed on your part. Anything you've already completed and passed stays saved.

During a module, it asked me to type my name. Why?

This is a quick identity check that appears partway through each module, and again before the final quiz. It confirms the person who signed in is still the one completing the training. Just type your first name exactly as it appears on your account to continue.

How do I get my certificate?

After you pass a module's quiz (80% or higher), a "Download certificate" button appears on your results screen. You can download it again any time by revisiting that module. Every certificate has a unique ID that can be verified at driveronfile.com/verify.html.

Can I retake a module if I don't pass?

Yes — there's currently no waiting period. If you don't pass a quiz, you can retake the module right away.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

Passwords are reset by your agency or employer's staff, not automatically online. Use the form below and include your User ID if you have it, and we'll help get you back in.

Is DriverOnFile available in Spanish?

Yes. Use the EN | ES toggle at the top of any page to switch languages. Your progress is the same either way.

My course won't load, or the page looks broken.

Try refreshing the page first. If that doesn't help, try a different browser (Chrome, Safari, and Edge all work well), or check that you have a stable internet connection. If it's still not working, send us a message below with what device and browser you're using.
